Headache, Migraine, Head PainThe Manifestation of Migraines

There are various ways that a migraine can manifest itself, of which a headache is the most common symptom of this neurological condition. Though, much like an earthquake can manifest itself with tremors before the actual quake and aftershocks in the aftermath, there can be signs of a migraine before and after the actual appearance of the neurological disorder.

One of the ways a migraine can manifest itself is through epileptic seizures, which is called a Migralepsy. The interesting thing about this condition is that one can cause the other, meaning either migraines can cause epileptic seizures or seizures can cause migraine pain.

So, what are the signs of this condition? Well, we listed them below.

Signs of Migralepsy

  • Blindness
  • Flashing Lights
  • Geometric or animate forms
  • Hallucinations
  • Convulsions
  • Vomiting
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Headaches

More on Migralepsy

Since migraines do not necessarily trigger seizures and seizures do not necessarily trigger migraines, it is difficult to tell the what exactly causes migralepsy.  It can also be difficult to determine whether or not it is actually migralepsy or an epileptic seizure that is actually not caused by the migraine.

Another possibility is that a migraine sufferer may actually be experiencing an occipital seizure, which are migraines related to vision that begin in the occipital lobe of the brain. That lobe sits in the back of the brain and controls much of a person’s vision.

Now you’re probably wondering what the symptoms of an occipital seizure are and how they differ from migralepsy. Well, they are similar, but there are differences. You will have to come back next week to find out more about Occipital seizures, but until then we don’t want to leave you suffering in pain.

Whether you are experiencing migraines, seizures, epilepsy or a combination of these conditions is important that you have your upper neck thoroughly evaluated. Head and neck injuries are frequently the first step in developing these types of symptoms. The upper neck is very vulnerable to injuries because it is one of the most movable areas of the body. When the upper neck is misaligned it can frequently results in irritation of the brain stem. These undetected brainstem injuries can lead to a variety of symptoms including neurological symptoms such as migraines and seizures. The first step is to determine whether or not your upper neck is misaligned by an old accident or injury and this is done by seeing an upper cervical chiropractor. The upper cervical chiropractor is able to thoroughly evaluate your upper neck and determine if a misalignment has occurred and how best to correct it thoroughly and gently.
